Milton under fourteen's put in a commanding performance today to win 5-0 at home in cold but sunny conditions on Bannockburn High School's 3G Astro.
On the front foot from the start, with solid defending at the back and tireless effort in midfield, Milton pressured high up the pitch to unsettle a very strong & dangerous Dunblane United.
Milton deservedly took the lead mid-way through the first half when a deep cross from right wing back Cairney, found Houston at the back post who calmly chested down and swept the ball into the net from the edge of the six yard box.
With their tails now up, Milton continued to press whilst keeping it very tight at the back and denying space to Dunblane across the midfield. Milton went further ahead when a direct through ball found Ryan on the run and he found the far corner of the net from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.
Shortly before the break, Milton pushed their advantage further when Cairney was brought down in the box after cutting in from the right. Midfielder Tilley showed no signs of any nerves by despatching the penalty superbly into the right hand top corner of the net from the spot.
Dunblane had a speculative effort from long range late in the first half but under severe pressure, the forward player unfortunately failed to find the target.
Half Time : Milton 3-0 Dunblane United
With both sides deep in discussion at half time, the secondnd half started at a furious pace and Milton were unlucky not to go further in front when Tilley hit the bar.
As the second half wore on, the pace failed to drop and the Milton back three of Kilgannon, Morrow & Garry did well to keep up the pressure on the Dunblane strike force and snuff out any danger before it began.
Milton's midfield also pressed onwards, with McKail, Palmer & Houston dominating the play. A deserved fourth goal was greatly accepted after another excellent through ball caused a melee in the centre of Dunblane's defence and Ryan was on hand to take full advantage to score his seconnd from the edge of the box.
Milton got a well worked fifth goal to finish the game off as a contest when another excellent drive and cutback from Cairney found Ryan, who grabbed his hat-trick by slipping the ball into the net from six yards.
Carpenter, who came on for Sinclair (after he had put in a very good shift for Milton), was very unlucky with a long range drilled shot late on and both Tilley & Reid for Milton were denied by very close off-side decisions after putting the ball into the net either side of half time.
Some great goalkeeping from Dunblane's keeper and some excellent work in goal from Milton keeper Wallace, meant that there were no more goals to be had in this keenly contested, physical but clean match, watched by a healthy support from both sides.
