Late penalty save ensures Lenzie victory

Fixture: Moorlands v Lenzie YC
Competition: Under 14's C&KYFL

A last minute decision by the referee allowed this game to go ahead after the heavy overnight rain, Lenzie had the wind at their backs as they pushed forward and chances fell to Tucker, Thomno, McConnon and Inglis the home keeper did well on each occasion.
At the other end a Moorlands striker saw his 18 yard shot parried by keeper McQuillan and the ball fell to the other striker who cooly slotted the ball into the net midway through the first half.
Lenzie responded and again drove forward they were rewarded when a a Douglas pass saw striker JT run and his  shot hit the post but Tucker forced the ball over the line.

The second half saw the home side mainly in control with the wind and the Lenzie defence of Cairney, Tedeschi, Kinnell & Murray did well clearing their lines.
With the home side in attack, Lenzie broke away and a pass from Dudman sent JT away again and this time he fired the ball into the net from close range.
Minutes later Ross, Townsley and Elliot combined to set up striker JT to put the visitors 3-1 up.
Moorlands came back into the game as they beat the offside trap to score a second, Lenzie had a couple efforts saved late on in the game via shots from Craig and Cameron.
With minutes left to play Moorlands were awarded a penalty but keeper McQuillen parried the fierce drive over the bar to save the day for the East Dumbartonshire side.
