EK Burgh earn victory with second half goals

Written by  Calum Docherty, Lenzie YC

Fixture: Lenzie YC v EK Burgh United
Competition: Lanarkshire FDA U16's "A" League
Date: 15/03/15

Lenzie began this match missing some key players through illness and injury and it showed in the opening minutes of the game with Burgh being the more attacking side.

Lenzie were more defensive in the beginning with some great saves from Ross Williamson keeping them in the game.

As the first half progressed Lenzie began to get more into the game and started attacking more with Liam O’Conner playing some outstanding passes all over the pitch.

As the first half drew to a close Burgh had a big chance when a swooping move down the left wing was met by a shot that sailed just past Williamson’s left hand post.

Half Time : Lenzie YC 0-0 EK Burgh

The second half began with Burgh attacking strongly and creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

None of their chances seemed to be threatening Lenzie until 5 minutes into the half a quick passing move fell to the feet of Kier Dunnett who slotted the ball away.

Lenzie never really got back into the game and this showed when just 4 minutes later, when Burgh scored to double their doubled.

Burgh were attacking well and more frequently now and soon made the score 0-3 when a shot from the edge of the box flew into the net just out of Williamson’s reach.

The fourth and final goal came 30 minutes into the second half when a cross from the left was missed by everyone in the box and fell to Dunnett who’s initial shot was saved but scored on the second attempt.

Full Time : Lenzie YC 0-4 EK Burgh
