Mill United prove to be too strong for Lenzie

Competition: U16's Lanarkshire FDA "A" League

Lenzie travelled to Hamilton today to face Mill United. The game started with both teams attacking at either end but it was Mill Utd who made the breakthrough when a cross from the right was met by the head of the unmarked Deryn Lang who’s header looped over the keeper to make it 1-0. 
 
Mill United's second goal came when a shot from Darren Wilson took a nasty bobble on the horrible pitch surface and rolled through Ross Williamson’s legs into the net.
 
Lenzie were beginning to get back into the game more but their progress took a blow when their captain Jack Coutts had to be substituted with a head knock. 
 
Lenzie pulled a goal back just before half time when a cross from Liam O’Conner was inadvertently put into the net by Christian Machina to make the score at half time. 
 
Half Time : Mill United 2-1 Lenzie YC  
 
The second half started with both teams attacking well again. 
 
Mill United had a superb chance when a well-struck free kick cannoned off the bar and was cleared by John Craney. 
 
Mill United’s third goal came when Lewis Kelso found himself unmarked in the center of the park and slotted the ball away neatly. 
 
Lenzie were unable to keep Mill United out and soon found themselves down 4-1, this happened when a shot from the edge of the box from Ross Dunbar curved into the bottom left hand corner. 
 
Lenzie pulled a goal back when Conor Brodigan was tripped in the box giving Greg Cummings a chance to make the score 4-2. He slotted the ball away to give Lenzie a slight chance to get back into the match. 
 
Lenzie couldn’t capitalize on this opportunity however, when Mill Utd grabbed a fifth goal. This came when a cross from the right was not dealt with by the Lenzie defense and was slotted away by Darren Wilson for his second of the match. 
 
The sixth goal came from a lucky shot which pinballed around in the Lenzie box and crept over the line.
