Dunbeth FC won the CSFA B League Cup with a 4-0 victory over Gairdoch United at Ochilview Stadium.

Two goals in either half saw Dunbeth ease to victory. A first half double from Adam McDonald, followed by a goal from Darrell Love and an own goal in the second half rounded off the scoring on a great night for Dunbeth.

The match had a very scrappy start, with both sides unable to get a foothold in the game.

It was Gairdoch who had the first chance. Josh Lynn drove forward with the ball from half way and played a ball through for Robbie Simpson, the striker took one touch in the box but was closed down well by Dunbeth keeper Rhys Hampsey.

However, it was Dunbeth who came into the game and had a chance of their own. A great cross from the right-hand side by Darrell Love found TJ Sharkey but his header back across goal couldn't find a Dunbeth attacker.

Dunbeth continued to press and had their goal in rather fortunate circumstances. Adam McDonald picked up the ball just outside the box and tried his luck with a shot on goal, his effort was parried into the net by Birnie to give Dunbeth the lead with 25 minutes gone.

Dunbeth had another chance. Love played a nice one-two with Adem Altingul as Love received the ball and raced through on goal, but his effort was thwarted by a great double save by Birnie.

However, Dunbeth netted a second on the stroke of half time, with an outstanding goal. Adam McDonald took a free-kick on from 35 yards out and smashed the ball into the top right corner giving the keeper no chance.

Dunbeth continued their dominance and had their third goal just two minutes into the second half. Darrel Love the scorer. He once again linked up with Altingul on the edge of the penalty area. Altingul played a great ball through for Love who was not to be denied and got his goal. He lifted the ball over Birnie and into the corner, a great finish.

Gairdoch had nothing to lose after this point and tried to attack as much as possible. They fashioned their best chance just after 65 minutes. A great run from Max Grieve on the left-hand side allowed him to slip a ball through for Logan Scott whose venomous effort flew past the far post.

Dunbeth had their fourth of the game with just eight minutes left on the clock. A free-kick delivered by Adam McDonald from the right-hand side about 35 yards from goal was missed by those in a Dunbeth shirt and unfortunately deflected off a Gairdoch defender and flew into the net.

Dunbeth were just the better team on the night and Gairdoch were unable to keep up with an on-form Dunbeth side.
