Moorlands came from behind to seal a semi-final spot after a hard-fought cup tie.

The visitors took an early lead when a free-kick from deep eluded everyone to end up in the net.

Moorlands then suffered a blow when defender Paul Mockus had to leave the field enforcing a reshuffle with left-back Jonnie Walker moving into the centre.

The Uddingston outfit pressed for an equaliser but found Kilsyth ‘keeper Carlos Christie in good form and there was no further scoring in the first half.

The second half however, belonged to Moorlands. With Barry Maguire showing some lovely touches in midfield, the pressure was building on the Kilsyth defence.

When the leveller did arrive, it was a moment of supreme quality. The ball fell to Sean Monaghan around 16 yards from goal and the striker unleashed a peach of a left-foot drive into the top corner of the net.

Kilsyth were rocking and goalie Christie was injured as he made a brave stop from Moorlands’ Ross Tochel.

Moments later the home side took the lead. Michael Clarke rose majestically to head on Logan Jackson’s corner and Monaghan produced the deftest of touches to net from five yards.

Despite the set-back, Kilsyth made a spirited attempt to save the tie and Moorlands ‘keeper Lloyd Fallon and his defence had to be on their toes as they helped see their team through to the last four.
