U15's DFDL League Cup - Semi-Final
Venue
28 May 2014

Antonine welcomed Milngavie to Duntocher for a league Semi-Final tie. Antonine opened up on the front foot on the bumpy surface without getting any real chances in the opening 10 minutes. The first real chance fell to Fraser James who fired wide after Chris Donaghy played him in.

The next opportunity came in 15 minutes when a Mark Sweeny corner was met by Dean Miller. Unfortunately his header was cleared off the line.

The Antonine defender Miller then had to be taken to hospital after a sickening clash of heads that swelled his eye up to make it look like he had been in a boxing match. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Against the run of play on 20 minuntes a Milngavie corner was met at the front post and headed home to give them the lead.

But quater of an hour later it was all square. A Darren Wallace pass put Adam Boyle through on goal and he slotted home to equalise before half-time.

Half Time: Antonine 1-1 Milngavie

Antonine carried on the offense from the whistle with both James and Boyle coming close.

Then a fine flowing move ended with Gallacher crossing for Caleab Elliot who ended up firing the ball just over the bar.

The one way pressure continued with the Milngavie goal leading a charmed life. Wallace came close, but headed wide from a Danny Hamilton corner and Calum Maxwell shot went just over.

In the final minute it seemed destined for Extra-Time as Maxwell smashed a shot against the post.

Full Time: Antonine 1-1 Milngavie

Extra time started as the second half had ended with Antonine Continuing to push forward. Eventually it paid off when two minutes before half-time Maxwell's cross was headed home by Adam Boyle to give antonine the lead with his 25th goal of the season.

With five minutes to go Chris Donaghy sealed the victory for Antonine as he cut in and fired a 20 yard strike high into the net with his seventh goal of the season.

A game that should have been won in normal time, but missed chances made it closer than it should have been.

After Extra Time: Antonine 3-1 Milngavie

Next up on Sunday is the Final at Millburn Park, Vale of Leven Juniors Ground for a 12:00 KO against Lochgilphead.

Man of the Match: Chris Donaghy
