Moorlands took the points to go top of the league but they were made to work for their victory by a well-organised and resilient Carbrain side.

The first half was especially tightly contested and sound goalkeeping at both ends kept the scoresheet blank at the interval.

Half-time: Moorlands 0 Carbrain 0

The second half saw Moorlands re-shuffle with Paul Mockus moving forward and it was he who helped fashion the crucial breakthrough.

After 65 minutes, good skills from Mockus set up Aaron Gray and the substitute steered a delightful shot past Carbrain goalkeeper Jack Kennedy.

The visitors suffered another blow five minutes later when a miscued defensive header ended up in the net to put Moorlands two ahead.

Carbrain rallied valiantly, but the home side always looked the more likely to score and Logan Jackson broke through to fire goal No.3 before Dean Robertson completed the scoring with a crisp header.

Full-time: Moorlands 4 Carbrain 0
