Rangers S.A.B.C have progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Trans World Soccer Scottish Cup with a 4-1 win over Edinburgh side Hutchison Vale Colts on Saturday.
Goals from Ian Neilson, Aiden Reilly and a double from Louis Gordon saw last years beaten finalists defeat a Hutchison Vale side who were unbeaten in 11 games before this game.
The visitors had the first chance of the game when Findlay Barr burst down the right flank. His cross found Kye Hutchison, who lashed the ball off the underside of the crossbar. The rebound fell into the path of Josh Elder, but his shot rocketed over the bar.
Five minutes into the game, Rangers took the lead. John Wilson’s corner from the right was met by the head of Ian Neilson, who thumped his header home for the opening goal of the game.
Four minutes later, Rangers had the chance to add a second in similar fashion. A corner, this time from the right, was floated in and Neilson’s header was cleared off the line by Aidan Cross.
On twelve minutes, Rangers doubled their advantage. A cross from the right was headed in off the post by Aiden Reilly as the home side began to take control of the game.
Three minutes later, Rangers added a third to all but seal the tie before half time. A defence splitting pass from man of the match John Wilson saw Louis Gordon latch on to the pass, before tucking the ball away under Vale goalkeeper Cameron Bryle.
On twenty five minutes, Colts nearly found their way back into the match. A fine mazy run from Barr allowed him the chance to chip Rangers goalkeeper Robbie Walker, but his effort dropped narrowly wide of Walker’s left hand post.
