Moorlands booked a quarter-final berth with a decent display against a hard-working Carbrain side.
Paul Mockus opened the scoring for the home team when his twenty yard drive eluded the outstretched arms of visiting ‘keeper Jack Kennedy, 1-0.
However the Cumbernauld outfit pulled level soon afterwards, with a well-struck free-kick.
Moorlands were the dominant side on the ball and it was no real surprise when they took the lead again, although there was an element of fortune as a Carbrain defender deflected a cross into his own goal.
Home substitute Sean Monaghan then gave his team some breathing space by bursting through from the left to shoot home in style.
Half Time : Moorlands 3-1 Carbrain
The second half saw Moorlands continue to take the game to Carbrain and Dean Robertson added goal number four with an accomplished finish.
Aaron McNeil made it five for the Uddingston side but Carbrain kept battling away and were rewarded with a second goal minutes before the end.
Both teams deserve credit for playing out a good cup tie in less-than-ideal overhead conditions.
Full Time : Moorlands 5-2 Carbrain
