Dumbarton Riverside prepare for weekend festival
dumbartonriversidefcArgyle Park will take centre stage this weekend as Dumbarton Riverside FC host their second annual football festival.

The SFA Quality Mark club will see sixteen clubs, including two of their own, compete in 11-a-side football at the 1999s and 2000s age group.

Games will have a duration of twenty five minutes, allowing for multiple fixtures to be played throughout the morning and into the afternoon. There is plenty of silverware up for grabs; the 2000s finalists competing for the Brunos Barbers Cup and the 1999s doing battle for the Ben View Cup. Finally runners up will have the chance to play off for the DRFC Plate.

A relatively young club, Dumbarton Riverside have progressively grown to 210 players and adults. Furthermore they are now accommodating adults with disabilities, having set up the team Riverside Champions. This team will be competing in their festival on the 6th October at Dumbarton Academy.

President, Scott Marshall highlights the efforts of all involved for this coming festival, "The festival represents another milestone in the short history of the club with our second tournament seeing over 800 children and adults playing football. The rapid increase in the club could not have been achieved without the efforts our volunteers put in every week and I thank our 34 volunteers for making the club what it is today."

Dumbarton Riverside have shown their commitment to bringing in the right people to develop the club, with secretary Alastair Bateman being awarded the West Dunbartonshire Sports Awards Community Coach of the Year 2012.

The event is being supported by the numerous sponsors, including JJR Print Ltd, Ben View Centre and Brunos Barbers.

YFS looks forward to bringing you the results and winners photos from the event this weekend.
