Sunday afternoon in Inverurie and the sun finally decided to come out for what was going to be an excellent final between the Under 15s heavyweights in Albion and Lewis United. The match was to go all the way with Albion having more luck and won the treble.

Albion were to have the 1st chance of the game after Steven Innes made a storming run and then tried a speculative drive towards goal from 30 yards which was held by Edward Flinn in the Lewis goal.

The game was to be a good half with plenty of chances and an open game which was great entertainment for the big crowd that came to Colony Park for the game.

Lewis were to gain the upper hand and took the lead after Mark Swan tried an effort towards goal which was blocked by Steven Innes and then Swan feed in strike partner Daniel McKenzie who calmly slid the ball home past Reece Duncan. McKenzie was then brought for a short moment on what looked like a knee injury but came back on soon after.

Albion weren't going to give up and equalised after a great ball came in from the left hand side by Richard Binnie which was met by Mark Gilmour who perfectly guided his header into the bottom left hand corner which wrong footed Flinn.

Half Time: Albion BC 1-1 Lewis United Youth

Albion were the more dominant as we started the 2nd half and had the ball in the net however it was disallowed for a foul after one of the Lewis defenders was fouled in the lead up to the attack by Albion.

The league champions had the ball in the back of the net once more when Richard Binnie fed through Michael Ironside who slid the ball into the net however the goal was ruled out because Ironside was in an offside position.

Lewis had their 1st chance of the 2nd half in the 57th minute after Lewis Masson sent in a wonderful ball which was met by Greg Johnstone however his ball just slid wide of the left hand post.

Mark Swan has the aerial threat that kills off defenders every week and he once again gave the Albion defence problems and the ex Dyce striker had another chance which forced two great saves off Reece Duncan.

If the first 80 minutes was enough to contain for the neutral then extra time and penalties was to hold more excitement. It was a game that didn't contain a lot of chances however it did create good attacking play from both teams and both teams having a go at it.

Full Time: Albion BC 1-1 Lewis United Youth

The Albion forward line of Michael Ironside and Richard Binnie were giving Lewis problems again and the two of them combined again in which ex Deveronvale striker Ironside sent the ball into the latter whose effort just went inches wide.

In extra time Albion had the better chances and they got a dangerous free kick just outside the box which was taken by Kyle Wilox which was blocked by the Lewis wall and it came to Aymen Benylles who tried a scissor kick from the edge of the box which was saved by Flinn.

Lewis did have an effort through Callum Youngson after a great ball sent in by Daniel McKenzie which was met by the pacy winger however it just went over the top.

Just before the final whistle Albion could have snatched it after Michael Phillipson ambitiously tried his luck from 25 yards which was aiming for the top left hand corner however the effort just went over the bar with many of the crowd expecting a wonder strike.

Lewis were first to step up but unfortunately the forward's effort went over the bar. Albion then took the lead in the shoot-out through ex Lewis player Owen Purdie.

Callum Youngson had a chance to save Lewis's day with their second penalty however Reece Duncan saved his penalty superbly before Richard Binnie calmly slid the ball past Eddie Flinn.

Conor Dickie took Lewis's third which he slotted away comfortably to give Lewis a lifeline before Michael Ironside made it 3-1 Albion.

Mark Swan then found the bottom left hand corner with his penalty before United were given another lifeline with Albion's penalty going wide.

Lewis Ross then powerfully beat Reece Duncan with Lewis's fifth penalty before Duncan broke United's hearts with another powerful effort which Flinn managed to block with his foot but the power of the strike managed to find it's way in to start celebrations for Albion.

Albion BC Under 15's met Peterhead Colts at a chilly Glenury Park this afternoon in the Stonehaven Youth Trophy final.  The favourites, Albion, are league A champions, while Peterhead are one win away from being league B champions.

Richard Binnie looked to latch onto a ball over the top for Albion early on, but keeper Shaun Allen was off his line quickly to clear the danger.  In the eighth minute, Peterhead’s Jonathan Duthie had an effort tipped around the post by Reece Duncan in goals.

The League B side were having a good opening spell, and Charlie Spellman nearly gave them the lead when he flashed a shot just past the post on 15 minutes.  Albion then went straight up to the other end and Clark Scott was put through one-on-one.  The striker’s attempted lob was well saved by Allen who was sharp off his line again.

In the 17th minute Albion grabbed the lead.  Binnie was left unmarked at a corner and took full advantage, his bullet header going in off the post.  Three minutes later it was 2-0.  Mark Gilmour won possession on the right, battled to the by-line and cut the ball back for Scott who had an easy finish.

After a good start, Peterhead had now faded away a bit and Albion were dominant.  Their third goal came in the 29th minute, and it was great link-up play between Gilmour and Scott once more.  A long ball forward was flicked on by Gilmour, allowing Scott, who timed his run to perfection, to go clear.  The striker kept his cool to slot past the keeper for his second of the match.

Just before half time Peterhead gave themselves a life-line as they pulled a goal back.  Paul Duncan fired the ball across the face of goal and found Taylor Dawson waiting at the back post to finish it off.

Half Time: Albion BC 3-1 Peterhead BC Colts

Clark Scott was on the hunt for his hat trick right from the start of the second half, but his low drive was easily stopped by Allen.  In the 48th minute, Peterhead’s Liam Mackie latched onto a ball over the top, and with the keeper rushing out, tried an audacious lob from 30 yards which bounced just wide.

Shaun Allen had been in fine form, and made another excellent save from a powerful header in the 56th minute.

Albion’s fourth goal did arrive shortly after though.  Scott found himself all alone with the ball at his feet just a few yards out and blasted it goalwards.  It looked as though the keeper had saved it for a moment but the sheer power of the shot carried it over the line and Scott claimed his deserved hat trick.

At 4-1, Peterhead looked dead and buried, but their heads didn’t go down, in fact they came back into the game and dominated for a spell.  Aidan Buchan’s effort at the near post flew just wide on 69 minutes, before Mackie nearly scored direct from a corner two minutes later.

Just as it looked as though Peterhead would finish strongly though, three quick goals from Albion put three final nails in the League B side’s coffin.  The first was a screamer from Dylan Smith on the right-hand side, leaving keeper with no chance.  The second just a minute later was a low, close-range shot from Gilmour, who deserved a goal, having had a good game.  Having opened the scoring, Richard Binnie then finished it with the last kick of the game, a superb low drive across the keeper from wide on the right.

All in all, a well deserved, and expected, victory for Albion, although the scoreline was somewhat harsh on the opposition. Peterhead put up a good fight and made things difficult for the League A champions. They dominated spells of the game but crucially couldn’t find the net in those spells and then caved in at the end. Albion will take confidence from the win as they look ahead to another cup final against Lewis United next week.

Clark Scott caused problems for Colts all day and thoroughly deserved his hat trick.

Shaun Allen put in a great shift, pulling off some really good saves and generally being a safe pair of hands.  Can't be blamed for any of the goals.

Andrew Milne, Coach of Albion, said: "I’m just absolutely delighted, the kids have been first class this year and I think they’re getting their just rewards.  Started off a bit slow today though I thought, but we are getting better.  It’s unusual because we haven’t really been in many cup finals, last year we didn’t actually win anything so we’ve now won the league, and this cup, and obviously we’ve got the cup final against Lewis Utd coming up next week which all the boys are probably thoroughly looking forward to.  Maybe a bit of nerves at the start today but they did the job in the end so we’re absolutely delighted."

He continued: "I think Peterhead actually put up a really good fight today.  The end result probably flattered us just ever so slightly, they maybe just ran out of a bit of puff, but we’ll take it."

Graeme Mackie, Coach of Peterhead, said: "The result flatters Albion a bit, 7-1, we were looking quite solid at 3-1 as well.  I think the loons did us proud, I’m really pleased with them.  I couldn’t fault the effort that the team put in, if we’d taken our chances early doors it could’ve been a different game."

Ally Marshall, Coach of Peterhead, said:  "The guys have done really well getting this far, and barring the last 10 minutes, we gave them a really good game."
