Ross County were faced with a hard test against SYFA outfit Broomhill Juniors and the Staggies edged the tie after a closely fought encounter.
The Dingwall side took the lead in the 8th minute thanks to a deflected strike from Connor Ross from 20 yards which ended up in the top right hand corner.
Broomhill came back and a great ball went into the feet of Alix Lawson who put it past Irvine in the Staggies goal.
Ross was to score his second of the game moments later when he calmly slotted past Rhys Leiper.
Into the second half Juniors brought on new signing Aaron Cox and he scored Broomhill’s equaliser after receiving the ball from Lawson.
Another new signing, Ross County’s Greg Morrison, netted County’s winner when he put the ball away at the third attempt following a double save from Leiper.
