Just 24 hours after Albion and Aberdeen clashed in a derby at Aberdeen Sports Village there was another derby treat when Highland sides Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle locked horns.

It was always going to be tight game and Inverness gained revenge from losing in the Inverness Football Festival to the Staggies by winning 1-0 thanks to a Jason Brown winner.

The game started with some good tempo and Caley made a few early charges towards goal when a great ball in from Ally Sutherland was met by Stefan McRitchie but straight at Matthew Irvine.

Matthew Irvine then had to be alert again when Caley Thistle threatened again, Felipe Da Silva tried a looping shot over the Ross County keeper but Irvine was able to tip it over the bar for a Caley corner.

From the resulting corner from Ally Sutherland it went into the feet of Da Silva but his twenty yard effort just went whiskers wide of the right hand post.

Ross County then had their first real chance of the game when Jordan Laidlaw's cross was headed goal wards by Conner Lyall.

Inverness then created some good passing and Calum Howarth was next to try his luck in front of goal but it just flew over the bar.

Caley had another try at goal when Felipe Da Silva passed it to Stefan McRitchie who knocked it into Ben Allan but it was another shot that was to blow over the bar.

Inverness had possibly there best chance of the game seven minutes later when Ally Sutherland's ball found Phillip Watt who beat Irvine but didn't beat Sean Campbell as he got back in time to clear the danger.

As we entered the end of the half it was all mostly football played by Caley and they got a goal right on the brink of half time when Felipe Da Silva put in a dangerous ball from the left hand side was headed into the bottom left hand corner by Jason Brown.

Caley were hungry for more goals and nearly added a 2nd when Ross Aitken passed to Calum Howarth but it once again went over the bar rather than under it.

Ross County looked more of a threat in the 2nd half and they made a more interesting game, midway through the 2nd half there was changes galore to try and change the game.

But Caley were to be hungry again at the Ross County goal when Calum Howarth sent in a dangerous free kick which was attacked by Caley but Jason Brown couldn't connect to it.

Aiden Hersee was then next to try his luck in front of goal when he received the ball from Ross Aitken but Hersee was to be denied by Irvine.

Just two minutes later a ball from Conner Lyall into substitute Greg Morrison raced through on goal but saw himself into a tight angle but Morrison got his shot away but it went straight at Lenny Wilson.

Ross County had one more chance near the end when a free kick from Conner Lyall found Morrison again but it just went whiskers wide.
