Crosshouse travelled to Bellfield in a cup game that was always likely to be fiery. It was crucial for both teams - this was the only cup competition Crosshouse were still involved in and they were determined to reverse their last defeat. Bellfield wanted victory to maintain their chance of winning every trophy possible.

The match started frantically and this time it was Bellfield who went ahead, insanly. The lively David Shedden stroked the first shot of the game past the Crosshouse keeper from just inside the box.

In between spells of pressure from Crosshouse, Bellfield continued to look dangerous, but Crosshouse found a way to clear everything thrown at them. Ryan Rowe missed a chance with a header from an Andy Hunter corner and Sam McCloskey had a low, long-rage drive saved by well by the keeper. Ross Dunnachie cleared another effort from a corner off the line, but Bellfield did find the second goal – and it was the flying Shedden who stabbed low into the net following a great McCloskey ball.

Crosshouse tried to find a way through with Chris Gardner and Nathan Reynolds looking dangerous in particular but the first half finished 2-0.

The second half started evenly and both teams looked capable of scoring. Crosshouse continued to press but halfway through the second half their hard work was undone. Steven Hill stepped up to take a free-kick about 30 yards from the Crosshouse goal and struck it perfectly with control and power as it curled and skimmed under the crossbar to make it 3-0.

The Bellfield back four of Golightly, McLaren, Larmour and Kirkwood did well to withstand the pressure that followed as Crosshouse battled hard. Nathan Reynolds had a shot that went past the Bellfield keeper, but also past the post. Good work from Jack Robertson allowed birthday-boy Andy Hunter to score a brilliant solo goal. He worked his way through three defenders as he drove into the box and then swiped the finish past the keeper. His day would only get better as he got his second soon after to make it 5-0.

John McClure and Nathan Ross could have added to Bellfield’s lead but shot wide. And despite Crosshouse’s work, this crucial cup tie finished in a 5-0 win for Bellfield.
