| Top youth clubs set for inaugural tournament of champions | |
This Sunday a brand new youth tournament will take place for the first time in Scotland which can't fail to capture the imagination. Hosted by Milngavie Wanderers, the inaugural Scottish Youth Champions League (SCYL) will take place at Glenhead Park, home of Drumchapel Amateurs. This unique tournament, sponsored by Clyde Shopping Centre, features four Under 14 (born 1999) teams who were winners of their respective leagues. The sides will play a round robin against each other, with the top two meeting in a final to decide the SYCL Champion for 2012. The four champions competing are:
Milngavie Wanderers Hosts of the event, Milngavie have had a sensational debut season - winning the Glasgow & District league, the League Cup, the Lenzie Cup and were crowned West Regional Champions in June. Hamilton Accies BC Champions of the Central league, the team collected an impressive 5 trophies in 2011/12 - losing just 3 in 51 competitive matches all season. Gourock YAC Champions of the tough Paisley Johnstone & District having clinched the title on the final day, they went on to secure the double - winning the League Cup final. Tass Thistle Champions of Ayrshire having gone the season undefeated - 20 wins from 20 matches. Completed a fantastic treble by winning the League Cup and CYP trophy. The calibre of the teams competing should create a fantastic competitive tournament - with every club looking to become the first ever SYCL Champion. The action takes place from 10am, with the final kicking off at 1:50pm. YFS and YFS TV will be present to bring you the best of the action. |
