Celtic FC Under 17 Girls
 vs
Glasgow Girls Under 17s

Competition: SWF Central/West League Cup - Final
Venue: Toryglen Regional Sports Complex
Date: 23/05/2012

Celtic started this game as firm favourites and charged into an early lead when Abi  Harrison whipped a cross in from the right which was coolly finished by Katie Flannigan at the back post.

The Hoops continued to press with Georgie Rafferty and Hayley Sinclair dominating the midfield for Celtic and it was Sinclair with a rasping drive who put Celtic 2-0 up after 10 minutes.

Before Glasgow Girls could settle they found themselves 3 down when Alyshia Walker played a great ball to the tricky Carla Jackson who set up Flannigan for another clinical finish.

Walker was next to try her luck with a great turn and shot well saved by McNamara in the Glasgow Girls goal. Rafferty then fired wide before Flannigan nipped in to seal her hat-trick.

Lauren Coleman then went close for Glasgow Girls with their first real threat on goal. This spurred Celtic into action and Harrison raced on to a great through ball to slot number 5 for Celtic.

Jackson was showing great skills on the left wing but number 6 came from an unlikely source. A Celtic corner was palmed away by McNamara. Courtney White picked up the loose ball at the edge of the box and spectacularly lobbed the ball into the roof of the net.

The half time whistle could not come quick enough for Glasgow Girls. Despite Nadine Peacock's energy and Leigh Ferrol’s hard work up front they were unable to crack a Celtic defence well marshalled by Amy McAfferty.

Half Time: Falkirk Futures Under 13s 6-0 Glasgow Girls Under 17s

The second half started with Celtic again on the attack and they soon added to the score with Jackson and Harrison linking up well for Harrison to find the top corner.

Glasgow Girls responded with Peacock crossing for Coleman to head just wide.

Jackson was next to have a go but Ellie Keenan cleared brilliantly off the line. Jackson was not to be denied, deservedly getting on the scoresheet soon after despite the excellent McNamara’s effort to deny her.

Glasgow Girls were performing much better in the second half with the hard working Megan Logan stifling the Celtic midfield. Glasgow Girls were looking much more dangerous on the break and restricting Celtic to long range efforts. Sinclair hit the bar with one long range effort before Jackson completed the scoring.

Celtic thoroughly deserved their win and there were many outstanding performances. Walker and Flannigan were superb up front for Celtic and Jackson and Harrison were causing havoc on both wings. Celtic MOTM goes to Sinclair for dominating the midfield.

Glasgow Girls were caught cold at the start and there was really no way back after conceding 3 early goals. Despite the scoreline McNamara was superb in the Glasgow Girls Goals and leigh Ferrol and Peacock chased everything up front. However my Glasgow Girls MOTM goes to Megan Logan for her tireless work all over the pitch.
