East End United FC U19's post match interview article

Written by
East End United lifted the Trans World Scottish Youth FA Cup after a thrilling 4-3 win after extra-time.

Captain Kwami Antoine said "I'm excited for the boys, we played a great game and proud we won the match."

The Inverclyde side led twice in the match but were pegged back by a spirited Broxburn side forcing the match to extra-time. Antoine said "I found our boys battled more and had more and had the determination to push for the last goal."

East End went ahead under ten seconds in to the second half of extra-time and the midfielder said it was the "Perfect start in extra-time, after we got the goal the key was just to defend and see it out."

The defence stood firm to ensure United ran out Cup Winners with Antoine adding "We're delighted to win our first ever Scottish Cup and tonight's going to be good."

Martin Jess, the U19s club secretary was beaming with pride after witnessing his teams victory, he said the feeling was "Hard to describe. I'm absolutely over the moon. We've created a little bit of history today."

Jess, however, said he could have done without the stress of extra-time " I'll need to up my fund for my hair dye after that that thirty minutes of extra time, it was unbelievably slow, time was going slow and clock taking forever"

Fortunately, his East End United team managed to get the right result for Jess and he reflected on the day.

"We're a relatively small club but over last six years we've made big strides. Our plans  tonight? We will go and have a couple of quiet libations I imagine."
