Aberdeen under 13s (12s) progressed to the final of the SWF Youth Scottish Cup final after a dramatic victory over Hearts on Sunday. The Dons found themselves two goals ahead early on, but Hearts managed to fight back and draw level – the game looked poised to go to extra time but late goals from Bayley Hutchison and Erin Henderson sent Aberdeen through to the final.
The game started at a great pace and Hearts tested the Aberdeen goalkeeper; a powerful shot from Caitlin Black was parried away by Nicole Miller as she produced a good save.
Arguably against the run of play, Aberdeen took the lead; a high pass was played through to Hutchison, the ball seemed to be going slightly too far for the striker but she managed to nip in front of the defender and slot the ball into the net.
Aberdeen then went two goals up around ten minutes later; Hutchison once again the scorer as she powerfully finished past the goalkeeper.
Hearts then pulled one back just before half time; following some good work on the wing, the ball fell to Black who made no mistake and scored to bring the Edinburgh side back into the game.
The referee then brought the half to an end in a fascinating contest; both sides were still in the game and it would take a massive effort from either side to win the match.

The second began in the same fashion as the first and Hearts drew level two minutes into the game; defender Isabelle Ratcliffe hit a powerful drive from range, and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
Despite the Hearts pressure, Aberdeen showed their professionalism and went ahead again in the 49th minute; Hutchison secured her hat-trick as she fired the ball past Ella McMillan in the Hearts goal.
The last action in the match came from tricky Aberdeen midfielder Erin Henderson; Henderson skipped by her marker and launched the ball towards goal, as McMillan stood still, the ball sailed into the top corner in which was, for me, goal of the day.
This goal sent the Aberdeen players, fans and coaches wild and as the final whistle was blown, these celebrations continued on. It was an admirable performance by both teams and much credit must go to Aberdeen for their style of football and desire to win.
The Dons will now take on Glasgow City Blacks in the final of the tournament in November.
