“We played some fantastic football on a tricky surface and also scored some fantastic goals. It’s a match we’ve been looking forward to since the semis."
City dominated the match throughout, but were held at bay in the first half, mainly through the goalkeeping heroics of Nicole Miller who was a rock between the sticks for the Reds.
“We always knew the goals would come if we kept attacking and playing our game. I thought the Aberdeen keeper was outstanding today."
Player of the match Megan Whiteford was delighted with her own overall display as she notched a cup final hat trick.
“I’m really delighted with my performance and a bit surprised as I didn’t think I had all those goals in me. It’s been a great season as we’ve won everything we’ve played in and it’s the first time we’ve won this trophy."
For Joyce, as a coach stepping down this season, the triumph was also a real personal milestone.
“It’s been a great way to end my time as coach after a fantastic season. I can’t praise the player highly enough. I am absolutely delighted.”
