It was Albion with the strong start of the two teams, but Syngenta with the first real effort on goal in the 4th minute as a powerful drive from Flynn Gray was blocked by Cameron Imrie, that certainly wasn't the last time the skipper would put his body on the line.

A minute later, Syngenta were in again as Flynn Gray was played through and looked certain to open the scoring, but an absolutely wonderful save from Vitali Sahhalivtis in the Albion goal ensured the match remained goalless.

The opening ten minutes seen Banks O'Dee have a lot more of the ball but Syngenta with the more clear cut of the chances, but their number 1 controlling his box very well with some confident catches.

The breakthrough came after just thirteen minutes, with Ali Shrive playing a lovely one-two on the edge of the Syngenta box with Greg Pirie, and the former showed a very cool and composed head the slot the ball in to the bottom corner to give Albion a deserved lead.

Syngenta tried to level things up two minutes later with a very long ranged free kick from Josh Brown, which was spilled by the keeper but was gathered at the second attempt with little danger.

However, two minutes later, Syngenta Juveniles did level things up. Fantastic play down the right hand side seen George MacDonald play a nice one-two with Flynn Gray, with MacDonald running right down to the byline, drawing in a couple of defenders and the keeper, he then cut it back to Callan Stone who had the simple task of slotting it in to the empty net.

After their goal, Syngenta really started to cause some problems, mainly through George MacDonald who was causing a lot of issues down the right wing, with good link up play with Flynn Gray and Sean Fagan as they looked to capitalise on their good spell.

But it was Banks O'Dee who nearly took the lead for the second time on the half hour mark, with Ali Shrive looking for his second with a strike from twenty-five yards out, a very powerful, looping effort, but the keeper showed great agility the get a strong right hand to it and put it over the bar.

The thirty-third minute saw the first substitution of the game, as Connor Wood made way for Mark Reid, with this turning out the be a very good move from the Albion boss as Reid would be pivotal to them getting the result they were after.

Syngenta had a big chance to go in front as MacDonald played the ball across the box to Callan Stone who took a touch, and just has he went to get his shot away from 10 yards out, Jason Ritchie comes flying in with a fantastic challenge to ensure the his number one wasn't tested.

The last chance of the half seen MacDonald heavily involved again, as he once again combined with Flynn Gray, with MacDonald showing a lovely bit of skill to see off Calum Beattie, losing a boot in the process, but the winger went on regardless to get a decent shot away but was comfortably turned around for a corner.l effort on goal in the 4th minute as a powerful drive from Flynn Gray was blocked by Cameron Imrie, that certainly wasn't the last time the skipper would put his body on the line.

The first chance of the second half fell the way of Syngenta's Sean Fagan, as a lovely turn on the edge of the box allowed him the space to try and bend one in the far corner with his left foot, a very good effort stopped by a very good save by Sahhalivtis in the Albion goal.

Seven minutes in to the second half, Connor Wood would return to the action in place of the impressive Jay Murphy. Again this would prove to be a very important substitution from the Albion management.

Albion nearly took the lead again as a fantastic effort from McKenzie forced the Syngenta stopper in to another good save to keep his team level. McKenzie started to become a real danger man the longer the match went on.

Syngenta then made their first sub on the hour mark as goalscorer Callan Stone made way for Roman Blazejewski.

After a physical, but fair challenge for the ball between Calum McKenzie and Sean Fagan, the latter went down holding his face but the referee wasn't convinced, this started a chain of meaty tackles, especially as McKenzie beat several Syngenta players as they tried to bring the tricky winger down, but to no success.

Shortly after, in the sixty-fifth minute, Banks O'Dee albion would re-take the lead, after a perfectly waited through ball from Ali Shrive found Connor wood, who scored a delightful dink over the on-rushing goalkeeper the put Albion back in front.

It was then very quiet for five minutes after the goal, until Sean Fagan tried to get his side back on level terms with a very good long ranged effort, but once again the Albion keeper pulled off a very good save.

The first booking of the game went the way of Syngenta's Josh Brown for bringing down Calum McKenzie to stop a dangerous looking attack

With just under twenty minutes to go, it was time for more substitutions, with Syngenta replacing Forrester with Aaron McMillan and Ritchie making way for Murphy for Albion.

Fifteen minutes from time and Syngenta were starting to push for that all important equaliser, but more great work from the Albion skipper stopped any chance they had.

The afternoon of the very impressive Calum McKenzie was ended early by injury, as the Albion winger went up for a header and had an awkward landing, with Calum Mitchell taking his place.

Josh Brown of Syngenta then made way for Michael McQueen, an extra attacking option as they pushed for the vital equaliser.

Within two minutes of coming on, after some nice passing play from Syngenta, McQueen found the ball at his feet twelve yards from goal, the number nine tried to place the ball in the far corner with the ball coming back off the post, and after a scrap for the rebound, Albion manage to clear the danger with ten to play.

With five minutes remaining, Syngenta then made a double change, with Aaron McMillan and Hayden McLean making way for Kyle McGuire and Conor Whitehead.

Substitute Mark Reid showed some great hold up play for the last fifteen minutes of the game, especially in the last five. His first touch would stick to his foot almost every time and the Albion number nine showed a lot of maturity and composure with the decisions he was making. He could have went for glory on several occasions but he instead used his body well to protect the ball to either wait for his teammates to catch up with play or to win several throw-ins and corners, this was critical to Albion picking up the win.

In to the three minutes of additional time, a good catch from the Albion keeper helped relieve a lot of pressure, followed by a good kick up to Reid who again showed a great first touch and hold up play.

With the fans and players all screaming for the full time whistle, the referee would finally oblige and blow for the end of the game to the obvious delight to everyone involved at Banks O'Dee Albion with the substitutes and management team running on to the pitch to join the players in the celebrations.

Syngenta Juveniles should be proud of their performance, on another day things may have been different as they struck the woodwork and Sahhalivtis in the Albion goal produced several fantastic saves, but in the end, Banks O'Dee's quality prevailed as they pick up a deserved win and the Scottish youth FA cup to go with it.

George MacDonald - His whole team of course came off the pitch feeling disappointed not to get the win they were after, but there were still some very good performances in the Syngenta side, most noticeably George MacDonald. The tricky winger should feel very hard down by the end the match on the losing side. Great feet and clever movement gave his opponents a very tough day from start to finish, he was heavily involved in everything positive for his team and he got himself an assist.
Ali Shrive - It doesn't get much more composed in a cup final than this performance from Ali Shrive. From start to finish he totally controlled the game from the middle of midfield. Not only was Shrive controlling the game, he opened the scoring with some nice passing moves with his teammates and a tidy finish, he also played a wonderful through ball to set up the winner. Fantastic performance and deservedly ended up on the winning side.
Magic Moment
Syngenta Juveniles
Banks O'Dee Albion
Looking back on the match, Syngenta Juveniles won't have too many fond memories, as nobody wants to lose a cup final. However, eighteen minutes in to the match, the players, management and fans didn't have that thought in their mind, the celebrations for their goal were absolutely fantastic and it showed everyone how much it meant to them.
As much as everyone involved at Banks O'Dee Albion would have enjoyed the whole day, except maybe the tense finale to the game, the full time whistle was met with incredible scenes. The substitutes and management team joining the players on the pitch to celebrate as one. The passion on show as they all then came over to celebrate with their travelling support summed up their performance.
