Midfield maestro, Brian Blackburn, popped up with an 89th-minute winner in what was a close encounter against Tranent Juniors BFC.

Tweedmouth were one down after 11 seconds as a Tranent striker took a woeful stab at goal and the bounce deceived Sean Robertson in goal and squirmed into the net. With less than 10 minutes gone it was two, as Sean Dixon and Jake Birkett failed to track the centre forward who broke free and managed to lob the on rushing Robertson, though the bystanders indicated he was well offside, but the goal stood.

So it was all uphill from here but with the ever impressive Shane Macgregor pulling the strings, it wouldn't be long before Tweedmouth came back into it and slowly they took control of the game, so much so that Robertson never had another save to make of any worth.

Brian Blackburn and Matthew Tait alongside MacGregor took control of the midfield and just before the break MacGregor centred for Tweedmouth's trialist to slot home from close range.

Half Time: Tweedmouth Juniors 1-1 Tranent Juniors

All square at half time and Tweedmouth were in the ascendancy, Kieran Bowell and Jo Birkett marauding down the left were causing problems and the visitors hefty challenges lead to a string of free kicks and MacGregor floated in a free kick that looked bound for the top corner when a defender powered a bullet header into the left corner of the net, this was a much deserved equaliser.

Andrew Williams back in at right back after a bout of illness put in a good shift and was replaced with James Turnbull who capably deputised for the remainder of the game. Jo Birkett was replaced with Mark Douglas and the tireless Dylan Patterson who only had a couple of chances but contributed well was replaced by Scott Gold.

A fine flowing move down the left saw man of the match MacGregor slot a nice pass to Blackburn on the edge of the box who slotted home sweetly with only two minutes remaining. Tweedmouth saw out the additional 5 minutes without a problem and came away with a well deserved win, but they need to concentrate for the full 90 minutes because at this standard it can be costly if you don't.
