Would you like to help Youth Football Scotland promote grass-roots football in your area and win up to £2500 worth of advertising for your business?

The free services of Youth Football Scotland to the youth football community are funded by advertising. A lot of businesses and organisations have approached us previously, saying 'we would like to reach your users in our area, but advertising on a national website wouldn't work for us'. So in 2014, YFS is launching our new 'Regional Advertising initiative'.

The initiative allows organisations to promote their products and services to the most relevant people, through the following:

Button on the right hand of relevant Regional Hub, a new focal point of the YFS website.
Button on every match report and news story in the relevant region.
Button can be animated.
• Free production of an audio advert for the organisation.
• 10 plays of the audio advert, on the relevant YFS Radio Regional Podcast.

If you are interested in purchasing regional advertising you can request the YFS Media Pack by clicking here. However, to celebrate the launch of the new programme, we are giving you the opportunity to win a year's advertising through our 2014 YFS Sponsorship Raffle.

Tickets are £35 and the prizes are:

• 4 annual sponsorship packages (worth £750) in each of Scotland's six football regions (24 being given away in total).
• For organisations targeting a national audience, you can win sponsorship of 20,000 of our 'Coverage Cards' (worth £2500), which are handed to all players and parents after each match we cover.
• EVERY entrant is sent a personalised electronic 'We support youth football in our region' badge, which can be displayed on your website or social media (see below).

To enter the raffle purchase as many tickets as you wish below. You can also purchase them by phone on 0131 629-7903 or by sending a cheque addressed to Youth Football Scotland, Caledonia House, 1 Redheughs Rigg, Edinburgh, EH12 9DQ (please include a note with your contact details and region). All proceeds go directly into promoting youth football in your selected region.

The last date for entry is Monday 17th February, with the draw being made live on YFS Radio on Wednesday 19th February.

Tragedy as two Edinburgh teenage players die

Written by

It was a sad day for youth football in Scotland yesterday as two talented, young footballers lost their lives.

Jamie Skinner, aged 13, passed away following an innocuous incident on the pitch. Jamie was playing his first game for Tynecastle FC U14’s, in a game against Spartans, after being released by Heart of Midlothian FC last week. In a statement, released by Tynecastle FC, it was said, “No words can fully express our grief and dismay at seeing this happen, we can only pass on our thoughts and prayers to friends and family. Everyone at Tynecastle is in total shock at what has happened, and we are sure the youth football community will join with us in also thinking of all the players, coaches and supporters at the game who witnessed this sad event”.

In an unrelated event, Hibernian U20’s player David Paul, aged 18, passed away in the night after a night out with his Hibernian teammates. In a club statement, Chairman Rod Petrie said “Everyone at the Club is deeply affected by this. David was a talented and promising young footballer, and a fine young man. Our thoughts - and the thoughts of the entire Hibernian community - are with his family at this dreadful and difficult time for them”.

Youth Football Scotland would like to extend its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the players at this devastating time.

Friends of Jamie Skinner have arranged a Memorial match on the 30th of December. Details below:
