Ferry Athletic came from behind to lift the G Kerr Cup against Forfar West End. Goals from Andy Kelly, Rory Faulkner and Jay Foran separated a double from Forfar’s Owen Wilson.
Both sides cancelled each other out in the opening stages of the match, but Forfar keeper Kyle Millar had to be at his best to keep out a snap shot from Arran Smith after 10 minutes. The Ferry midfielder looked to have broken the deadlock, but the Forfar goalie produced a fine diving save to keep the score level.
Forfar struck first when Owen Wilson met Rhys Fraser’s in-swinging free kick. The big striker’s header looped over Stewart Linton in the Ferry goal, giving Forfar a deserved lead.
Their good work was nearly undone three minutes later when Alistar Wilson turned a low cross against his own crossbar. The resulting corner saw an unmarked Andy Kelly fire wide from close range.
Forfar didn’t learn their lesson, and in first half injury time, Kelly brought Ferry level. Blair McCord’s corner appeared to have too much on it, but Smith returned the ball into the six-yard box, where Kelly was on hand to turn the ball into the empty net.
