This weekend I watched two Hamilton Accies youth products produce probably the best central midfield partnership of the weekend in the EPL. Next I saw this: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17886208

Thoughts?

I agree with the adage "if you are good enough you are old enough". However, this child will be playing against men who are fully developed physically. He should only play if his safety can be assured.

What is the difference between him playing against adults at 13 years of age and say a 9 year old playing against 14 year olds? We would not allow the latter.

I have read several other threads on this site regarding development of youth football. It is the coach's responsibility to develop him but I certainly wouldn't be playing him it it was my choice. There are other options available.

Mark Hill 13 years old. I am glad he never got on
Billy Reid. Hamilton manager said "But I don't even know what age you are allowed to play them at."
Billy Reid is responsible for 2 lads playing (together) in the English Premiership, McCarthy and McArthur.
Well done him. But 13. no.

I think "MAYBE" good experience to be on the bench. But should a 13 year old be privy to what is said in an adults changing room? on he bench? in the dugout. I don't agree.

Just my opinion.

Good thread Robbie !!

Does anyone think this is merely a publicity stunt? Either driven by the club itself or the media. They've sold a couple of players down to England and want to create a production line?

Crossed my mind to be fair.
So is this a SFL club trying to use a 13 year old kid as a marketing tool? If so, shame on them, (If this is the case)
