A hat-trick from Adam Harper, a double from Andrew Simmond and a Cole Goodwin strike ensured that Colony Park beat Middlefield Wasps 6-2 in a high scoring Soccerworld League A match at Inverurie’s Davidson Park on a fine spring day.
It was the visitors Middlefield who had the game’s first opportunity as Jack Burnett’s long range free kick went over the crossbar.
Colony’s first chance of the match came as a great run down the right hand side by Simmond saw himself test Middlefield goalkeeper Sean Paterson with a shot that was saved with the rebound from Harper going over the crossbar.
Minutes later Harper got his goal as he tapped the ball into an empty net to give Colony Park a one goal lead.
Colony continued to press and a low William Hutchison effort from inside the right of the box was well saved by Paterson in the away goal.
Middlefield were awarded a penalty and Cameron Bisset converted from the spot with a low drive to the right to equalise for his side.
Colony regained their advantage as Harper scored his and his side’s second of the game with a powerful shot from the left hand side of the box to make it 2-1 to the hosts.
Five minutes later Colony made it 3-1 as Cole Goodwin took a touch and slotted home with a low effort to double his side’s lead.
