After a hard fought 0-0 draw with Formartine Utd FC mid week, Huntly Under 19's travelled to Stonehaven looking for three points.

This match is always one Huntly like to try and win, playing on the smallest pitch in the league, the depleted squad were up for this match from kick off. Penny and Brian, two of our players, were on first team duty at Buckie due to 10 of Huntly's Highland League squad being unavailable.

Huntly started well with Jordon Gray running up the left wing, cutting into the Stonehaven box and crossing it to David Clark. With five minutes played, Clark fired the ball home to give Huntly the league.

Stonehaven reacted quickly though and made it 1-1 from a corner. The home side then took the lead through their number nine after they played a ball into a congested Huntly box, which the visitors failed to clear.

Thankfully for Huntly though, David Clark levelled before half time with a well struck goal.

Half Time: Stonehaven YFC 2-2 Huntly FC

At half time Ian Cooper, Huntly's coach, made several changes to the line up. This proved positive. A great drive up the left wing by defender Rory Stephen, through half the Stonehaven line, was followed by a well placed pass to the feet of Jordon Gray. He controlled the ball nicely and scored from inside the Stonhaven box to give the visitors the lead.

The last ten minutes were hard fought by both sides and the ball was going from end-to-end. Huntly though made their lead more comfortable with minutes to go. Lewis Whyte made a pass through to Andrew Paton and he finished off the move.

Stonehaven didn't lie down though and gave the end of the match an exciting twist, finishing off their 3rd with only a few minutes to go. Unfortunately for them it wasn't enough and in the end it was a well fought three points for Huntly, which keeps the under 19's in 2nd place in the ADJFA.

Saturday 25th April sees the under 19's play Stonehaven again at home on Christie Park, kick off 2pm.
