Aberdeen under 13s (12s) progressed to the final of the SWF Youth Scottish Cup final after a dramatic victory over Hearts on Sunday. The Dons found themselves two goals ahead early on, but Hearts managed to fight back and draw level – the game looked poised to go to extra time but late goals from Bayley Hutchison and Erin Henderson sent Aberdeen through to the final.
The game started at a great pace and Hearts tested the Aberdeen goalkeeper; a powerful shot from Caitlin Black was parried away by Nicole Miller as she produced a good save.
Arguably against the run of play, Aberdeen took the lead; a high pass was played through to Hutchison, the ball seemed to be going slightly too far for the striker but she managed to nip in front of the defender and slot the ball into the net.
Aberdeen then went two goals up around ten minutes later; Hutchison once again the scorer as she powerfully finished past the goalkeeper.
Hearts then pulled one back just before half time; following some good work on the wing, the ball fell to Black who made no mistake and scored to bring the Edinburgh side back into the game.
The referee then brought the half to an end in a fascinating contest; both sides were still in the game and it would take a massive effort from either side to win the match.
