Hermes Youth might be top of the league at Christmas however it’s Banks O’Dee Albion who will be in a better position in 2017 after a 1-0 victory away to Hermes Youth on Saturday.
Hermes have won 9, drew 1 and lost their first league game to Albion on Saturday. Banks O’Dee have won 9/9 league games. Peterhead sit bottom after just 1 draw in 10. ALC Athletic have only played 5 league games and will be looking to climb the league table.
Banks O’Dee Albion Coach Patrick Ritchie gave his view on the season so far saying “We are delighted with the season so far, our main focus is on the Scottish Cup and we have to wait to find out who we’ll be facing in the quarter-finals. We are very happy with the progress made and undefeated domestically.”
The B league will be more competitive with four sides still in the hunt for the title. Middlefield Wasps are currently top with Banchory Boys Eagles in 2nd. A win for Banchory in their game in hand will see them just a point behind Wasps.
Newmachar United and Turriff United are still in with a shout of winning the league however games against Middlefield and Banchory will be key for both these sides. Turriff can take confidence from giving A league outfit ALC Athletic a good game in the cup recently. The Aberdeen outfit only came away with a 2-0 victory.
Stonehaven United and Formartine United are currently situated at the bottom and will require luck to get themselves out of the bottom two. 2017 will be an interesting time for many teams with a lot of big games set to take place.
