A warm and bright day in Bridge of Don saw Colony Park face off against Formartine United in what could have been said to be a grudge match. Both teams came into the game strongly as both midfields matched the others.

Formartine used the width of the pitch well and used their right hand side to attack the Colony defence to great effect. Cormack and Duncan linked up well to deliver crosses into the Colony box.

Eventually Formartine broke through with Reid being fouled in the box after a good run, resulting in a Formartine penalty that Geddes tucked away precisely into the bottom corner.

Cormack continued to show his great skill down the right as he took on defenders and delivered crosses time after time.

A ball broke for Formartine’s Wilson who took the shot on from just inside his own half but was denied by a great acrobatic save from keeper Dawson in the Colony goal.

After good build up play, a scramble on the edge of the Colony box resulted in Formartine’s Reid sweeping home a parried effort from Cormack.

The second half saw both teams once again start strongly. Colony pushed forward through Ivory Hunter and Reid but Formartine’s forward force of Cormack and Mair proved to cause great trouble in the Colony ranks.

Cormack saw himself gain many chances for his team but just couldn’t deliver the final ball due to good pressure from the Colony Park full backs.

The game evened out from here and both teams had good passing moves until each defence cancelled them out.

Colony edged forward with good supply into Reid and Ivory Hunter.

The Formartine defence began to let in the Colony striking partnership work and after a well hit corner, Colony Park saw Duncan slide in at the far post to make it 2-1 after evading the Formartine defence late on.

Colony Park then pushed forward searching for that equaliser but Formartine defended fiercely from this point and managed to see the game off.
