From Banchory to Barcelona…a ‘new experience’ for the Aberdeenshire outfit.

Like many other Scottish teams, Banchory Boys Club will be venturing out to Spain this Easter to compete in the Barcelona Easter tournament with Trans World Soccer.

The Aberdeenshire team coach Sandy Grant caught up with Youth Football Scotland to give us an insight into what the team is most looking forward to at the tournament.

Of course, the Camp Nou and adventure parks are ‘high on the list’, however the football is what really brings Banchory to Barcelona, with the team excited to be ‘playing teams from other countries’ and competing against different ‘styles of play’. The warm weather always helps too.

1.    What tournament will you be going to?

We are going to the Barcelona Easter Tournament next year in March/April 2018.

2.    What are you / the team most looking forward to for the trip?

Looking forward to playing teams from other countries and seeing their style of play, which will be a new experience. We will also be looking forward to playing football in warm weather after a Scottish winter and getting together as a team for a few days. The Adventure Park and Nou Camp are high on the boys list.

3.    What is something that people might not know about Banchory Boys Club?

The Banchory Boys Club badge is a picture of Scolty Tower, which you can see from Banchory and miles around. The tower was built as a memorial to General William Burnett who fought with Wellington in the Napoleonic Wars.
