A comfortable victory for Fraserburgh Link-Up saw them progress into the semi-finals of the Castle Trophies Cup where they will be at home to either Glentanar or Lewis United. These sides played earlier in the season in another cup tie which Fraserburgh came out on top winning 2-0.
The Broch started the game on the front foot & Cove started the game fairly organised. Jay Ridgeway had a good opening chance for Cove in the opening exchanges of the game however his effort was denied by Andrew Dunbar.
Fraserburgh went ahead in the 11th minute with Mantas Cepulis having a long range effort which was too much for Samuel Paterson in the visiting goal. Colby King then tried to get an equaliser at the other end for Cove however his effort was denied again by Dunbar.
The hosts doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute. A Lewis Noble effort who was unmarked bounced off the woodwork & in. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the Broch & Cove deserve huge credit for the way they played during the 1st half however Fraserburgh putting their A League status to full use.
