It was Cults Academy who won the first Aberdeen Secondary Schools FA cup final of the season as they swept aside Oldmachar at Northfield Academy.  All credit goes to both schools who both played some very good football regardless of the testing windy conditions.
Oldmachar had the first chance on goal through Steven Alexander which was denied by a good stretched save from Lucas Muller in the Cults goal. Muller had a good game for Cults, always encouraging his team mates on and was very vocal throughout.
Muller’s save was a good one in the end as after 4 minutes, Cults took the lead. A great ball was knocked into the feet of Findlay Robert Ness who knocked a shot past Aaron Brock from close range to give Cults the perfect start. The wind was strongly affecting both sides and there were very limited chances for either team.
The rest of the half resulted in wind assisted situations and it was Cults who went in at half time a goal to the good. A big 2nd half was to follow for both sides.

Whatever words of wisdom the Cults management team had at half time it certainly worked with Cults getting more dangerous going forward as the 2nd half kicked off. Oldmachar had their moments too however as the wind got worse as the game progressed. Oldmachar had some free kicks however they were going high in the air.
Cults made it 2-0 when Ruben Richard Whitelaw produced a low shot past Brock in the Oldmachar goal to double the advantage. A good goal at the right time coming 10 minutes after the turnaround.
Ness picked up his 2nd goal of the game in the 49th minute with a low shot past Brock. It was tough on Oldmachar who despite losing played very well and put in a good performance which will have made their school proud. It was a great goal kick from Lucas Muller which bounced before finding Ness who did the rest.
Cults completed the scoring eight minutes from time after a strike from Jamie Strang found its way into the bottom left hand corner to complete a good afternoon at the office on a horrible day weather wise for football. Congratulations to Cults Academy & commiserations to Oldmachar Academy. Both teams served up a good game of football regardless of the weather.

Findlay Robert Ness - Findlay scored 2 goals and was a often a thorn for the Oldmachar defence. A good team performance overall!
Lewis Youngson - Did well at the back for Oldmachar, produced some good tackles.
