A fantastic performance from Kincorth Academy was enough for the South Aberdeen outfit to take home the Esso Trophy. Kincorth turned on a good show against an Aberdeen Grammar outfit who looked a lot better than the scoreline suggested.

Kincorth opened the scoring with the game only a minute old when a Josh Robb free kick was knocked onto the crossbar by Fraser Bruce and Kasen Seed was there to knock home the rebound from close range to kick start proceedings.

The game went stale for a period afterwards in the game however Kincorth went 2-0 up after 22 minutes when a lobbed effort from Jamie Rennie evaded both the Grammar goalkeeper and his backline to give Kincorth some breathing space in this cup final. It wasn't a one sided game by any stretch, however Kincorth were on a different level.

It was 3-0 with seven minutes until half time when Seed guided the ball home past Bruce to treble Kincorths lead going into half time, Grammar tried to play football however whenever they got into the final third, they couldn't muster out clear cut chances.

Kincorth went 4-0 up in the 43rd minute, Kincorth played some fantastic football on what wasn't an ideal playing surface and the ball came into Ben Ellis who rounded Bruce and found the net to set the scene for the second half.

Despite the big lead, Grammar never gave up and they had a chance to reduce the deficit with a free kick from Finlay Nesbitt however a good save from Grant McDonald denied the left midfielder. McDonald had to be called upon again, denying Gregory Robertson.

Josh Robb has had some superb performances as part of the Cove Youth FC Under 13s side this season and his standards didn't go down in this contest with a wonderful lob leading to goal number five giving Bruce no chance.

A quick throw in with six minutes to go led to goal number six which found Robb, who produced a right footed finish past Bruce putting the ball through the goalkeeper in the process.

Grammar earned a consolation goal thanks to Aiden Milne which added to the context of the cup final with both teams serving up a good game despite the scoreline. Congratulations to Kincorth and commiserations to Aberdeen Grammar School.
