Ellon Meadows 17s win B League

Written by

Ellon Meadows won the Under 17s B League last week with a 2-1 win against Huntly. Ellon won 11 games losing just 3 with defeats to Middlefield Wasps, Formartine United and Banchory Hawks.

Ellon Meadows Coach Ian Thom spoke about his teams achievements when he said, “The boys were a bit disappointed at getting beat against Formartine in particular but the players picked themselves up for the rest of the season and they have been a brilliant bunch of guys to work with and they always worked hard in training and they went into that game a little bit complacent, we had a few new faces in this season and the campaign has been first class, the players have always turned up for training and arrived on games as well as giving 100% in their games.

“Once we were halfway through the season we looked at the league table and said to the boys that we could win the league but there wasn’t a turning point during the season, the game against Huntly was probably the longest game I have ever watched as we scored our 2nd goal with 23 minutes to spare and we had the last 23 minutes to sweat it out, most of the boys are speaking about continuing again for next season with the Under 19s team, hopefully we can do well again next season and we are hoping to have new faces into the team.”

"I said to the boys after they beat Huntly 2-1 that this season is all about you boys, not about me or Bob (the other coach), Huntly went ahead on Saturday but the heads went up after that."

Congratulations to all at Ellon Meadows Under 17s on their success.
