Banks O’Dee Albion took home the Belmont Trophy with a 7-0 win against Stonehaven YFC City, however Stonehaven didn’t disgrace themselves by any stretch with the game being a good advert for ADJFA football.

Banks O’Dee Albion started the brighter of the two teams however Stonehaven YFC City were very organised and made life difficult for the Spain Park side in the opening exchanges of the game. Logan Watt had the first opportunity for the visitors after only five minutes when he rounded Jamie Boath however a good block by the goalkeeper denied the tall striker the chance to score.

Albion kept the pressure on with Watt having a header at Boath followed by Kyle Murphy having a long range strike which looked goal bound however it just flew wide of going into the top right hand corner.

Logan Watt opened the scoring for Banks O’Dee Albion on 20 minutes when he got the better of the Stonehaven defender by using his physical presence and Watt then fired home a fine finish into the bottom left hand corner from close range. That goal set the scene for the rest of the half.

Albion would keep going at Stonehaven immediately after the restart and were 2-0 up shortly after, a header from Cameron Jappy found Watt who got his second goal of the game sliding the ball under Boath in the City goal.

The Spain Park outfit made it 3-0 just before half time when a ball came in from Lyall Keir which was met by Cameron Jappy who knocked home a fine effort, it came at a good time for Albion which helped their confidence going into the second half.

Stonehaven came into the game more at the start of the second half after the team talks at the intervals and had a few chances to get themselves a goal, a throw in was met by Jay Waters who had an effort just go wide of the left hand post. Waters then had another chance after a ball came into his feet which was also knocked wide.

Lyall Keir nearly added to the scoring for Banks O’Dee Albion with an effort from the edge of the box which had Jamie Boath beaten all ends up however Jake Marsay was on the goal line to clear the danger.

Albion added a fourth on 55 minutes, a ball came in from Jordan Lynch which was met by Logan Watt who headed home for his second goal of the afternoon. The scoreline was harsh on Stonehaven who played well and can be very proud of their approach to the game.

Kyle Murphy added to the scoring making it 5-0 on 64 minutes, a good ball found the midfielder who found the roof of the net with a good effort from the edge of the box to create more damage on Stonehaven YFC City.

Fraser Duncan made it 6-0 with a penalty on 67 minutes before Watt secured his hat-trick with a minute before the final whistle with a good shot placed into the bottom right hand corner to complete a good afternoon at the office for Banks O’Dee Albion.
