A very good performance from Banks O'Dee Albion was enough for the Colony Park Cup to go back to Spain Park for Banks O'Dee Albion. Marcel Okeakawa and Alfie Knox scored the goals which helped Albion towards success. It was a dreich day at Colony Park with the weather slowly improving during the second half.

Both sides were playing some good football in the opening exchanges of the game however neither team were clear cut in front of goal with Lloyd Sharp or Connor MacLeod in either goal having much to do during the opening 15 minutes of the game.

As the half progressed, Albion came out of the blocks and had a few chances towards the Cove goal, Alfie Knox had a chance for Albion with an angled drive towards goal wide of the left hand post.

Albion took the lead after 24 minutes, an initial effort had been saved by Lloyd Sharp which found its way into Marcel Okeakawa who fired home to give the Spain Park side a great start and it was a crucial goal after a stale start to the cup final. Cove weren't playing bad however it was mostly one way traffic at times in the first half.

After motivational half time team talks by both sets of coaches, the second half was more exciting with Cove posing more of a threat at goal. Charlie Rothnie almost pulled his side with a shot on goal which was blocked by Callum McGregor, both sides then made substitutes in an attempt to make the cup final more vibrant.

It certainly paid off with both sides having more chances and Albion were to make it 2-0 after 54 minutes, a free kick from the Banks O'Dee Albion defender wasn't picked up by anyone in the danger zone and Alfie Knox was there to fire home with a half volley into the bottom right hand corner past Sharp from close range.

The 2nd goal by Albion was probably a wake up call for Cove who put in a lot of effort towards the end of the game in an effort to salvage the game, the pressure paid off 3 minutes from time with a speculative effort from Liam Duthie which beat Connor MacLeod all ends up and landed into the roof of the net to give Cove some hope.

Cove then pushed for an equaliser forcing some corners and putting the Albion defence under some intense pressure with Cove huffing and puffing however nothing was going their way.

Damon Collins almost made the game safe for Banks O'Dee Albion with a minute left on the clock after being through on goal with just Sharp to beat however his 14 yard effort bounced off the post before being cleared to safety.
