Northstar Under 15s earned their place in the second round of the Scottish Cup with a fantastic 5-1 win over Glentanar, the scoreline was a little bit harsh on Glentanar with the difference being Northstar had a fantastic 20 minute spell in the second half.

Andrew Buck had a good effort for Northstar in the eighth minute over the bar before Usman Shehu had a curling effort denied by Matthew Taylor in the Glentanar goal, both sides had good opportunities in the early stages of the game.

Northstar took the lead on 22 minutes, a ball found Shehu who slid the ball home into the back of the net beyond the Glentanar backline, a goal which set the scene for the game.

Glentanar tried to pull level with Kieran Hurley had an effort from the edge of the box over the bar before Jamie Reith tried to double the lead for the hosts however his effort cannoned off the bar.

Northstar extended their lead a minute after the restart, Timilehin Odedairo was through on goal and the tall striker slotted the ball home to provide the best start to the 2nd half for the hosts.

It was 3-0 six minutes later. Usman Shehu rounded Taylor and tapped the ball home in what was the winger's second goal of the game. Glentanar were playing well however the pace of Shehu and Odedairo was too much at times for the Glentanar backline.

Jack Gerrie then set up Shehu for his hat-trick and the winger got himself into the box before poking the ball into the back of the net from close range to seal the tie however the hosts weren't finished just yet.

The final goal for Northstar arrived on 59 minutes with Gerrie getting a deserved goal for his efforts during the game, his effort was deflected off a Glentanar player which wrong footed Taylor and went into the net.

Despite Northstar playing so well, Glentanar played some exciting stuff and got themselves a deserved consolation goal. Matthew Dormer got the ball before heading into the box and smashing the ball home into the low corner.

Well done to both teams on a great game, congratulations to Northstar and commiserations to Glentanar, both teams are near the top of the B league and rightly so. It's a tough result for Glentanar however they have improved massively on last season.
