Deveronvale came from a goal down in the Spree ADJFA C League under 15s fixture to beat Aberdon 5-1 at Banff Academy astroturf, both teams had 100% records heading into the game with Deveronvale's ambitions of league success taking a huge step forward towards their targets.

Aberdon took the lead after four minutes when Callum O'Brien drove past the Vale backline and guided a fine effort home past Callum Begg in the Vale goal to give the visitors the dream start. Aberdon were fast going from the word go and took advantage of the Banff sides slow start to put themselves in front.

Vale found an equaliser four minutes later. Ahren Duncan was a vocal captain and defender for the hosts and it was the skipper who levelled matters up after a good corner came in and Duncan was there to guide the ball home past Ben Horne in the Aberdon goal which gave the hosts the lift required.

Shaun MacDonald put in a very good shift for the Vale and his hard work was rewarded after he got the ball and fired a fine effort into the bottom left hand corner with 20 minutes on the clock.

Nine minutes before half time, Vale doubled the advantage after a good ball from Alan McLeod found MacDonald who went on a darting run before keeping his composure to slot the ball into the back of the net beyond Horne.

Alan McLeod always looked dangerous when he was on the ball for Vale and he almost got himself on the scoresheet in the 59th minute when Vale played some good football and McLeod got into the box however his effort went wide of the right hand post.

The game then got a bit fiesty towards the tail-end of the second half however both sides continued to play good football and it was Vale who got a fourth goal on 62 minutes, a shot came off the crossbar by MacDonald and Leyton Boyd was there to tap the ball into an empty net to give Deveronvale a bit of comfort heading into the latter stages of the game.

Aidan O'Neill put the icing on the cake for Deveronvale after 78 minutes with a spectacular strike, O'Neill got the ball in the middle of the park before breaking forward before he let fly from 30 yards which found the roof of the net to round off a perfect day for the Banff side.

It is a fantastic result for Deveronvale and won comfortably against an Aberdon side who will also be challenging for the league alongside the Vale. The Banffers got off to a slow start however afterwards played some fantastic football, the quality at Under 15s level is very good.

Vale got relegated from the B League two years ago, however they look an improved side and have developed a lot since 2016. Aberdon scored 35 goals in four games conceding just three so this will be a tough result to take for the Aberdeen side.
