Deveronvale and Culter Thistle Under 13s shared the spoils in a pulsating 2-2 draw on a windy day at Myrus Sports Centre, Macduff. The wind was a problem for the whole duration of the match however credit to both teams who played some fantastic football against the conditions with lots of attacking flair from both Vale and Thistle.

Vale won the reverse game at the start of the season away at Culter with a 5-2 win coming back from being 2-0 down. The result was both teams's first draw of the season with both teams level on points.

The first ten minutes seen chances galore for both teams. Culter were first to pressure the Vale backline when a Harris Sainsbury ball found Henry Coutts however the effort was denied by Kyle Reid in the hosts goal.

Jack Mitchell was instrumental in the heart of midfield and he linked up very well with attacker Jack Sutherland for a potential opening. Sutherland received the ball before composing himself in front of goal however a good outstretched save by Robbie Innes thwarted the forward.

Sainsbury was looking a real threat for the Deveronvale defence and he was in on goal however a good save by Reid denied the talented winger. Sainsbury then played a fantastic ball into Jamie Bonner which was also saved by Reid.

After a series of Culter opportunities, Vale responded by having chances themselves, a Taylor Barron cross found Ryan Morrison who was clear in the six yard box however the effort just went wide. It was a fantastic game to watch on a not so warm morning with the game just requiring a goal.

That goal came on 28 minutes for the benefit of Culter, a fantastic through ball by Henry Coutts was met by Jake Moffat who then linked up well for Sean Wylie who was free in the box to smash home a fine effort to give Thistle the lead. There wasn't much between the teams up to that point with Culter punishing the hosts at the right time.

Deveronvale retailiated before half time on 30 minutes, a good ball by Taylor Barron was blocked by the Thistle backline however the ball came into Jack Mitchell and the captain rifled home a fine effort into the bottom left hand corner which gave Robbie Innes no chance. Equal at half time with very little to seperate the teams, as mentioned at the top of the report, it was a smashing game of football taking the overhead conditions into consideration.

After a tepid start to the second half with the wind still causing havoc, it was Culter who got themselves back in front on 48 minutes with Henry Coutts having a 30 yard free kick flying over Reid into the net to give Thistle the momentum once again however more tales in the twist were to follow.

Vale immediately put the pressure on Culter from kick-off and two minutes it was 2-2 after a fantastic ball came into Barron who then delivered the magic firing a fantastic effort into the bottom right corner to bring the hosts on level terms once again.

Culter played some fanastic football in the opening 50 minutes with some classy individual players however also play collectively as a team, the last 20 minutes was to see a Vale side putting lots of pressure on the opposition defence.

Ryan Morrison was looking lively and threatened the Thistle defence on a couple of occasions with a fantastic effort on 55 minutes which was goalbound blocked on the line by Sandy Innes before Morrison had another opportunity saved by Robbie Innes.

Jack Mitchell also had a couple of opportunities to get an important winner and a deflected shot was saved by Innes, Taylor Barron played a good ball into Jack Sutherland who was also thwarted by Innes who certainly did his bit to ensure Thistle went back to Aberdeen with something intact.

As mentioned, a pulsating game of football in windy conditions with a draw probably the right outcome however Vale will be aggrieved not to get a winner with the amount of chances they had in the latter exchanges of the game, both sides are fourth and fifth respectively and it's understandable that both are having a fantastic season and doing well on the step up from nine-a-side to 11s.

Deveronvale had a dip in form ahead of this game with three straight losses so a draw from a good side in Culter Thistle will hopefully reignite confidence from their own perspective for the rest of the campaign, it's going to be some title race this year that's for sure with a lot of big games still to come.

Jack Mitchell - The midfielder delivered a good performance both for himself and for the team, Jack was at the heart of everything on what was a big park to play on, Mitchell scored a goal and also had opportunities to add to the tally, a mention needs to go towards Taylor Barron too who showed fantastic trickery out wide and was very lively, scored a fantastic goal to add to the performance.
Harris Sainsbury - Didn't score however what a shift Harris put in! Harris was very supportive of his team mates and played a major part of Culters attack, Sean Wylie also looked a talented striker and scored a good first goal for his team.
