League leaders Northstar hosted Huntly at Northfield Academy with Northstar only requiring two victories to win the league.

Northstar won this contest 5-0 however Huntly must be commended for the effort and committment shown during the game, the Aberdeenshire side are currently 2nd bottom however are in a false position.

Both sides registered half chances in the opening ten minutes of the match with Northstar finding their feet afterwards and taking the lead on 12 minutes, a fantastic ball was driven in from the right by Jack Stewart which was very challenging for the Huntly backline and the ball was unfortunately knocked into his own net by David Preston.

Huntly didn't crumble after the goal but were dealt another blow a couple of minutes later when Northstar doubled their advantage; Alexander Fyvie had a superb game in midfield and his vision saw him open up space before firing past the stranded Stephen Woodhouse.

The half got a little bit subdued after that and news came in that Stonehaven beat Newmachar United 2-1 to help the title push for Northstar that bit extra - Northstar play Newmachar on Sunday.

Huntly had the final notable chance of the half with a free kick from Glen McRae which went wide.

Huntly put a lot into the game in the first half and are a better side than what the league position shows.

Northstar had the first real chance of the second period with Euan Scott having a clear cut opportunity on goal against the advancing Woodhouse, however his effort came back off the post.

On 42 minutes, it was 3-0 when talented attackers Scott and Dylan Clark linked up and Clark fired a fantastic effort into the bottom corner to give Northstar that extra bit of breathing space.

Northstar upped their game in the latter stages of the contest and it was 4-0 on 49 minutes - and what a superb strike it was too. Brandon Fullerton got into a good bit of space before firing a powerful effort towards goal which smacked off the crossbar before crossing the line.

Some good movement from Landis Pollard completed the scoring for the hosts and a good days work after Pollard broke into the box and smashed home past Woodhouse on 64 minutes,

Northstar keep their good momentum going and will look to wrap up the C League Section 1 title and - most importantly - promotion soon.
