Middlefield Wasps Under 15s got their hands on some silverware coming back from 2-0 down to win the Consolation Cup beating Stonehaven United 3-2 after extra time, after an entertaining first period, the second period was more tepid.
Wasps had the first clear cut opening of the match after Keiran Vettese played in Brodie Reid whose goalbound effort crashed onto the post before the ball came out into the pathway of Rowan Gillies who struck the ball over the crossbar with only the United goalkeeper to beat.
Middlefield continued to threaten with the talented Vettese finding Lenin Shanks however a good effort 15 yards from goal went wide of the left hand post, Middlefield were having the better chances and playing some good football however Stonehaven weathered the storm.
United took the lead on 16 minutes, some good build-up play resulted in the ball going onto the edge of the box which was met by Kieran Cooley who hit a sweet strike beyond Mikey Stott into the net to give Stonehaven the dream start, they had a lack of attacks however definitely know where the net is when it matters.
Cooley was putting in a tremendous performance for his side and made it 2-0 United on 28 minutes after a great ball by Ralfie Bannerman found Cooley and the forward placed the ball into the net beyond Stott with a lovely finish to double the advantage for United, both these sides have served up some cracking games in the league this season and this one was no different.
Middlefield reduced the deficit before half time after a good ball into the box found Rowan Gillies whose effort was parried before Lenin Shanks slammed the ball into the top left hand corner with a fantastic finish that was worthy of getting Wasps into the game and a very important goal it was as well.

Stonehaven deserved netting their two goals in the first period however Middlefield had more chances and had more purpose with the ball, Middlefield almost equalised on 52 minutes with Gillies finding Vettese whose effort was blocked by the Stonehaven defence before the ball came into the path of Jyden Kinnaird which was heading into the bottom left corner before the United goalkeeper scrambled the ball off the line and cleared by the Stonehaven defence.
Rowan Gillies played very well for the Wasps and the midfielders hard work was rewarded with a goal on 64 minutes with a good finish into the bottom left hand corner to draw Middlefield level and set things up interestingly for the latter exchanges of this cup final.
The end of normal time saw very little chances with Brodie Reid of Middlefield putting in some wonderful balls into the box however a lack of connection by team-mates was the burden to Wasps trying to get in front, Kieran Bartlett had a good chance for Stonehaven before the final whistle with a long range effort just sailing over the bar.
