Inverurie Academy Under 15s got their hands on the North Of Scotland Cup for the 2nd year in a row with a 10-4 win over Alford Academy coming back from 2-0 down to net five quick goals in the process. Carrie Ann Gordon netted 6 goals in what was a fantastic afternoon for the young talented striker with Alex Curry netting a brace alongside goals by Sara Pavesi and Mya Christie.

Alford started the game better and had a bit more about them in the opening 10 minutes of the match and they took the lead on seven minutes, a pass by Kirsty Stobble found Rachel Bain who delivered a nice long range effort into the roof of the net beyond Kelsie Allan in the Inverurie goal to give Alford the dream start, probably deserved at the time of the game.

Ten minutes later, it was 2-0 with Alford doubling their lead after a ball wasn't cleared away from the danger zone following a throw-in and the ball dropped to the talented Rachel Bain who delivered another sweet strike which hut the back of the net, two fantastic finishes from a good footballer.

There was no time to look away after the goal however as straight after the restart on 18 minutes, Inverurie pulled a goal back and set their intentions straight away of reducing the deficit after a long ball was switched into the Alford channel which Carrie Ann Gordon chased down and managed to retrieve the ball before rounding Kerin McKenzie and finding the net to give Inverurie a glimmer of hope.

On 24 minutes, Inverurie were level, Mya Christie got into a fantastic position out on the left hand side before cutting the ball across to Alex Curry who then found Carrie Ann Gordon who found the net with a smashing effort giving the unfortunate McKenzie no chance, Gordon finding the top left corner with a well placed finish.

Inverurie had the momentum now and stepped it up a gear before half time adding more wounds to Alford in the process, the Garioch outfit took the lead inside 26 minutes, Gordon went from scorer to provider after a good ball tested the Alford backline and a header found it's way towards Alex Curry whose fine header looped into the net to give Inverurie the lead.

Two goals in two minutes was then the order before the interval with Gordon yet again delivering another potent set-piece however the initial delivery was blocked by the Alford backline before coming back to the attacker who then played in Mya Christie who beat a few Alford players before finding a perfect blade of space followed by an inch perfect finish finding the bottom left corner, a real moment of brilliance there from the midfielder.

Carrie Ann Gordon completed the scoring just before half time, Mya Christie, on a high after her fantastic finish kept her fine football up playing a fantastic ball into the feet of Gordon who ran into the box before keeping her composure to slot the ball through Kerin McKenzies legs and complete what was a fantastic 14 minute spell for Inverurie where some of the football played was sublime against a difficult Alford side.

Alex Curry had a fantastic game in midfield for Inverurie and already had one goal to her name however on 39 minutes made it a brace after a fantastic ball into the box by Carrie Ann Gordon found the midfielder who dispatched a fine effort into the bottom right corner past McKenzie.

Alford weren't out of this game by any stretch of imagination and nearly had a chance to score another on 43 minutes, Demi Taylor went on a great run and went into the box however her shot kissed off the crossbar and over the bar, it would have been a great goal had she scored it.

On 53 minutes, it was 8-2, a unfortunate kick out by Kerin McKenzie found Carrie Ann Gordon who ran into the box and beat the Alford traffic before slotting the ball into the bottom left corner for goal number five of the day for Gordon.

Alford responded just a couple of minutes later with a fantastic 20 yard strike by Demi Taylor finding the top right corner past Allan to restore some pride back to Alford in the remaining 15 minutes of this cup final.

A good bit of action from Inverurie on 64 minutes saw goal number nine, Carrie Ann Gordon found Kathleen Leask who saw Sara Pavesi who smashed a fine effort into the top right corner in a fantastic finish by the sub to add towards the contribution for Inverurie.

Double figures was reached on 66 minutes with Carrie Ann Gordon getting her final goal of the day getting on the end of an Alex Curry ball before a good finish with the simplest of finishes.

Bain got her hat-trick on 67 minutes with Alford being creative in the latter stages of the match and Becky Bremner got the ball into a really good position before showing great vision to find Bain who tapped the ball into an empty net to complete what can only be described as a goals festival.

Well done to both teams for serving up what was a cracking game of football with the attackers definitely on top in this one, the game was played in a positive way so well done to all.
