In this game we saw a clash of two undefeated teams in the Under 13s North Kim Little League at Davidson Park in Port Elphinstone between Moray Pinks and Colony Park. It was Moray Pinks who came out on top winning 4-2.

The action started in the second minute a cross from Colony’s Woman of the Match, Aoife Gauld, was well clasped by Moray keeper Willow Searle to stop an inevitable goal.

Then only five minutes later a shot from Moray’s Woman of the match Iona McArthur was converted to make it 1-0 as a goal kick from Corys Hollands found its way past the back line and was well finished.

Only two minutes later in the ninth minute Colony looked as if they were going to equalise as a throw in from Halle Gordon was met by Gauld but her shot smashed against the post.

In the 18th minute a shot from Moray’s Romilly Cruickshank was well parried away by Colony keeper Kelsie Allan for a corner. The resulting corner lead to Morays moment of the match as a cross from Zoe Rankin was met and well struck by McArthur to give her and her team a second goal and make it 2-0.

Then, in the 24th minute a ball through by Morays Amy Bruce was met by McArthur who took the ball into the box and slotted the ball through the keepers legs to give her a hat-trick and give her team a 3-0 lead.

The final effort of the half came from Colony as Gauld had a free kick which she put into the box and goalward but the ball was easily saved by Moray goalie Searle.

Going into the break it was 3-0 to Moray and the game seemed out of reach for Colony to make a comeback and it seemed that they were about to suffer their first loss of the season.

The second half began and the action started quickly as in the thirty second minute a corner from Gauld was vollied by Eryn Davidson and it cannoned off the post.

A minute later a run from Cruickshank was ended with a shot where Colony keeper Kelsie Allan did well to parry it clear.

In the 38th minute a ball was thrown over the top of the Moray defence by Halle Gordon to Davidson whose shot was parried clear by the Moray keeper Searle.

In the 40th minute a shot from Morays Mcarthur was saved by Allan but it came right back to Mcarthur who then fired home a fourth both for her and her team.

Only four minutes later, the first goal for Colony and their moment of the match came as Gauld took the ball past four players in a mesmerising dribble and stuck the ball into the bottom left corner. The score was now 4-1 and Colony sensed a come back was on.

The final attempt and goal of the game came in the 50th minute when a penalty was awarded to Colony as Moray keeper Searle held back Grace Grimley and the ref blew his whistle. The penalty was converted by Gauld and the score was 4-2.

10 minutes later the ref blew his whistle and Colony’s undefeated season was over. They fought well but just came up short as the strong and skillful Moray came away with three points in an entertaining encounter where both sides showed great skill, determination and sportsmanship.

Moray player Millie McKenzie didn’t participate in the match as she is over in France just now supporting Scotland at the Women’s World Cup, her dreams came true on Friday when she got captain Rachel Corsie’s armband after the 2-1 defeat to Japan.
