The first cup final for the Aberdeen Secondary Schools association kicked of at Spain Park and it was a great advert in terms of great football and also the will to keep going and give your all.

Cults and Harlaw are in different leagues, Cults are currently sitting top of their league and are in contention for the treble this campaign where as Harlaw are currently 2nd in their league tied on points with Grammar, an exciting game was definitely in prospect.

And the game kicked off in full tempo with both teams eager to win this game right from the first whistle, it was Harlaw who took the lead with the game just 18 seconds old, Kyle Koss played a brilliant through ball into Ewan Reid who finished with ease. Aberdeen fans have this season been chanting "The Sheep are on fire" however Harlaw certainly came firing out the traps so early on in the game.

Harlaw's lead wasn't going to last long and Cults equalized after just 5 minutes after a great ball came into the penalty area and Matthew Clark was quick to pounce to force an immediate fightback.

Koss then went from provider to scorer in the 12th minute ater a great ball through went into his feet and then he did the rest as he sliced his shot into the top right hand corner in an effort which looked more like a chip rather than aimed for that angle.

The tasty winger was one of the stand-outs for Harlaw and on 15 minutes, he was feeling a bit aggreived ater a ball from Morgan Bruce found the player and he took his shot 1st time which his shot went wide who then punched at the 3G surface in anger.

Cults then came back once more and saw were going to see themselves go into the interval leading, all down to one man in Vincent Buggie, first a great ball came in from Andrew Mitchell which was met by Buggie who rattled it home. The exciting player then got himself a brace after another good ball came in and he once again found the net after a great through ball.

It was strangely, a very quiet start to the 2nd half however both sides geared up again after a while and Cults nearly added another goal after a ball came in from Ross Mennie was nearly forced into his own net by Sayed Ahmed. The clearence came at the right time though as they were about to get themselves back into the game.

Harlaw picked up an equalizer in the 50th minute after Koss showed some really good trickery once again and then played in substitute Daniel Lynch who found the bottom left hand corner from 10 yards.

Up at the other end 6 minutes later, Buggie had a chance to land his hat-trick after his 20 yard effort just went whiskers wide of the left hand post, there was good play in the lead-up to the attack which created the opportunity.

Cults took the lead once more and this time it was Umer Siddique who stepped up to the plate after Cults threatened the Harlaw goal once more, Harlaw were left stranded in the back line and it led to Siddique who banged the ball home from 15 yards.

In a game which was end to end, Harlaw had a few chances before the end to rescue their cup dream and force the game into a penalty shoot-out, the 1st effort was through forward Darren Harmen whose long range strike was deflected goalwards by a Cults defender and it went straight into the keepers hands.

Then, Ewan Reid who was another great payer in the middle of the park for Harlaw tried to add to his earlier goal to rescue Harlaw however another great save from the Cults keeper denied Reid and meant that the cup would once again be going to Cults after they won the competition again for the 2nd year running. Cults could win a further two trophies yet, they are in the running for a league play-off and also have the Green Final Trophy against Bucksburn next Thursday at Aberdeen Sports Village.

Harlaw's 2nd goal through Koss, it was more of a chip rather than ab absolute wonder goal and it didn't look like it was going in.
Their ability to bounce back twice and go onto win showed good character within the side.
