Findlay talks about Banchory's triumph

What an adventurous last few years Banchory have had. At Under 17s they reached the Scottish Cup final (pictured right, the team makes their entrance on the big stage) before their debut year at Under 19s a year later winning the B league, this time around the Deesiders are in the A league and have came out as league champions with strong competition on their back in Huntly FC 95s and Scottish Cup finalists Colony Locos.

Coach Neil Findlay has been with Banchory all the way through their youth years and talked about their success when he said "It was a good start and we won our group, unfortunately we lost our first couple of league games and thinking that we were out of the title race after just two games but the boys have stuck to their task and had an incredible run of 9 games undefeated which was the pinnacle on Saturday with a 5-0 win against Formartine.

"The players didn't want to stop, they didn't give up and they were thinking that they weren't in a position to win the league, we reached the final of the Sunnybank Shield and that was really our goal to reach a final, the league became a bonus however we hit form and players put in very good performances.

"There's some very good players I have here at Banchory and I hope to see them go onto other areas of the game and not just simply amateur football, I would like to think they'll get opportunities in junior football and maybe even in the Highland League.

"There would have been 5 staying on for another year however they're all away to university next year in Glasgow or Edinburgh and basically there's going to be none of the title winning team with us next season. Out of 19 players none of them will be available."
