Aberdeen and Dundee played out a dull 0-0 draw on the third day of the Denis Law Tournament 2014.  Chances were at a premium in a fairly even encounter at the sun-drenched King’s Pavilion playing fields.
Dundee were first to threaten in the fourth minute when Liam Fitzsimmons’ low drive from the edge of the box was blocked by a defender.  Aberdeen’s Bruce Anderson then brought a save out of Dundee keeper Robbie Paterson on 11 minutes.
Anderson then looked to be in on goal six minutes later but the keeper pulled off a good stop to deny him.  In the 26th minute a Dons corner fell to Seyon Kosheodo who blasted his shot high over the bar.
Seven minutes before the break Aberdeen won a free kick in a dangerous position but the wall did its job and blocked Jamie Buglass’ effort.  On the stroke half time Alex Gibb almost gave Dundee the lead.  Max Avolio’s ball across goal found Gibb whose shot from close range was stopped by the outstretched leg of keeper David Craddock.

After the restart Liam Gibb had a shot on target for the Dees but it was an easy save for Craddock.  Avolio then headed over the bar when he really should have done better.
If the first half had been lacking in chances, the second half was almost devoid of them altogether.  Very little of note happened until the 75th minute when Connor McLennan raced clear for Aberdeen.  The forward was fouled by the keeper as he rushed out and a free kick was awarded right at the edge of the box.  Andrew Youngson sent a great ball into the box where David Danga met it with a diving header which flashed just wide of the post.
Deep into stoppage time McLennan was sent through one-on-one with the keeper, but Paterson was off his line like lightening to get to the ball before the striker.
