Glasgow City eventually overcame Hibs in the under 15s semi final. It was an emphatic final result, but perhaps did not reflect the flow of this game, where chances fell at both ends. The match all boiled down to the superior clinical finishing of the Glasgow side, who marched on to the final against Glasgow Central Girls.
Hibs had the better of the opening exchanges, with a couple of runs and shots from Gabby Anderson causing problems for the Glasgow defence.
Soon enough, though, Glasgow had found their stride to take the lead on five minutes. A corner from Monica Anderson was swung in from the right and Chloe Muir found herself in space inside the box to guide a header past Claire Forrester to break the deadlock.
Glasgow were pressing the ball well in the midfield area with Jemma Marriott and Eva Lockhart getting on the ball with a grip on midfield. Hibs meanwhile kept their shape with long balls behind the Glasgow defence the main danger. It was from here that they were back in the game.
Emma McClure played sprayed a finely weighted high delivery from the right, finding Gabby Anderson free inside the Glasgow box. With time to take a touch she placed her shot past Sophie Allison and the sides were level on 11 minutes.
It was competitive, even game for the remainder of the half. Hibs certainly had a lift from equalising, pressing up the pitch better, allowing Deborah Henry and Gabby Anderson to get into dangerous areas. After Henry tested Allison 14 minutes, Jade Stenhouse then cracked the Glasgow bar on 20 minutes.
Glasgow weathered the Hibs pressure as the game swung end to end, with Muir an ever present danger down the left hand side. They almost broke through on 33 minutes when Aimee Headland found herself through on goal but Forrester was quick off her line to close down the shot.

This looked to have all the makings of a tight cup encounter, with Hibs having the bulk of the chances, but Glasgow were to give their opponents a lesson in finishing in the second half. With Hibs making the early second half running, Kirsty Morrison’s shot flashed just over, before Glasgow got up the pitch to take the lead.
A through ball from Marriott found Robinson in space to run clean through on the Hibs goal, and she had the composure to control and lift the ball past Forrester five minutes after the interval.
City were to go on and take a stranglehold of the game, but not before Anderson passed up another golden chance to equalise for Hibs, after good work by Morrison.
The decisive goal arrived on 51 minutes, with Monica Anderson making a great run with the ball down the right hand side of the box to finish low into the opposite corner of Forrester’s goal.
Both sides were exploiting the space as the game entered its closing stages, with Lucy Black having a shot well saved on 55 minutes, and shooting just wide for Glasgow at the other end.
Glasgow put the finishing touches to their victory with the goal of the game 63 minutes. Taking a high ball down, and with the ball behind her Anderson still managed to loop a high shot past Forrester from the edge of the box for her second goal of the match.
It was a goal which perhaps encapsulated the difference between these two sides on the day. Hibs had their chances, but superior finishing was to take Glasgow through to the final against Central Girls Football Academy.
