Queen of the South FC Under 19s vs St Cuthbert Wanderers Under 19s
SFA Youth Cup - Round 2
Queens started well with the Saint’s keeper making saves from Vallance, Young & Slattery, in the first 15mins. In the 20th min Slattery went close with a curling shot. Soon after a defence splitting pass from Slattery found Young who shot over.
It wasn’t until the 25th min that Queens had the ball in the net. A strong run from Park resulted in a corner. The resulting cross was finished by Vallance. The second goal came from Todd who, after winning the ball, hit the net from 30 yards out. With Queens now in firm control Slattery made it three before half time.
The second half again saw Queens continue to drive forward with Slattery being brought down for a penalty & then converting. Vallance twice hit the woodwork with fine headers before getting his second, in the 57th min.
Saints managed to find the net in the 72nd min. A free kick played to the back post saw a Saints player in space to slot the ball home.
Queens managed to add two further goals, Burgess hitting home a deflected shot & Anderson with a fine finish at the back post, from a corner.
Queen of the South comfortably progress to the third round but St Cuthbert's deserve a lot of credit for pulling together a team to play at this level with litle to no training or matches as a squad.
