It was another busy weekend’s youth football across Ayrshire, with league action across some tightly contested divisions in the West of Scotland and Central Ayrshire Youth Football Leagues.
In the West of Scotland U16 Division One, Ayr Boswell continued their perfect start as they opened up a six point gap on Crosshouse BC after a convincing 4-1 win at third place Valspar. Crosshouse kept up their own unbeaten record with fewer games played in their 7-0 home defeat of Coylton. Troon’s 3-2 win at Dreghorn gets them off the bottom of the table, whilst Galston moved up to sixth with a 4-2 away victory at Irvine Thistle.
Dean Thistle lead the pack in Age 16 Division Two after their 5-2 home defeat of Stewarton Annick. KSC Garnock won the local derby for a second week in a row, defeating bottom placed KCFC Garnock Valley 6-1 to move up to third place. There were closer calls elsewhere as Nithsdale Wanderers ground out a 4-3 home win over Largs Colts, whilst Glenafton and Prestwick shared the points in a 3-3 draw.
It’s a four way tie at the top of the U13 section, and all the leaders were in action at the weekend. Bonnyton won on the road at Auchinleck Talbot, as did Ayr Boswell at Caledonian Thistle. Bellfield Royals meanwhile had a comfortable 8-2 home victory over Cunninghame YFC and Glenburn’s 6-3 home victory over Crosshill Thistle keeps them in the leading pack. Elsewhere Galston’s thumping win at Girvan moves them up to seventh place.
In the U19s President’s Cup there was one fixture as Kilwinning Rangers ran in the goals in an 8-0 home win over Hurlford.
In the Central Ayrshire Youth Football League Age 15 Division One it was top versus bottom as Tass Thistle United narrowly lost out 2-1 at leaders Winlinton Wolves. Glenburn MW’s 1-0 home defeat of Auchinleck Talbot keeps them in second place ahead of KSC Rovers who dropped points in a 4-4 thriller away at Bonnyton Thistle. There were plenty of goals elsewhere as Hurlford’s 6-3 home win over Valspar kept them in the chase in seventh place.
In the Age 15 Division Two it is a four way tie at the top, with emphatic home victories for Carrick Colts over Hurlford Utd, and Cumnock Juniors overs Irvine Victoria. Largs Spartans meanwhile won the top of the table clash, with their 4-2 defeat of Bellfield Royals. Elsewhere Caledonian Colts had a morale boosting 3-0 victory at Crosshouse Boys Club to move up the bottom half of the table.
AC Irvine opened a four point gap at the weekend in the U14 league, where only two points separate the chasing five sides. Irvine were comfortable winners at Galston Youth, whilst Coylton and KSC Barca recorded home victories over Glenburn MW and Valspar respectively. Ayr Boswell Colts stayed in the hunt winning a narrow encounter 2-1 at Prestwick CFC, and Tass Thistle recorded the same scoreline at Caledonian United to get themselves up the table.
